How it works

When the temperature drops, we keep your walkways, sidewalks, parking areas and entrances safe.

We watch the forecast day and night and dispatch our crews automatically. You don’t need to call us.

Ice Management (salting)

We salt your Service Areas when:

  • Overnight lows are forecast at or below +1°C
  • Freezing fog creates ice
  • Melting snow piles refreeze
  • A frost, freezing rain or snowfall warning is issued (we pre-treat before it hits)

Where we can, we salt in the afternoon or evening before temperatures drop. We only re-apply when there’s a reason, such as new precipitation, salt washed away, or visible frost or ice. If the last treatment is still working, the inspection visit is no charge.

Snow Removal

We clear snow once it reaches 5 cm, and we aim to finish within 8 hours after the snow stops. If it keeps snowing, we come back for every additional 5 cm.

Salting after clearing is included in every snow removal visit.

  • All ground-level common areas you choose: walkways, entrances, steps, ramps, drive aisles, internal roads and parking lots
  • City sidewalks fronting your property, which helps you meet municipal bylaws
  • Hand clearing and de-icing of stairways
  • Gravel paths cleared to a compacted base and sanded rather than salted
  • A pre-season site walkthrough to confirm exactly which areas we service
  • Time-stamped photos and a visit record with every invoice, showing the condition that triggered the visit
  • Season coverage from November 1 to March 31

No photo, no charge. If we can’t show you a time-stamped photo of a visit, you don’t pay for it.

Our equipment

Toro Multi-Force stand-on machine with power broom clearing a snowy walkway

Toro Multi-Force stand-on machine with power broom

Our main tool for sidewalks and walkways. It’s much more manoeuvrable than an ATV, and the broom is gentle on pavers, curbs and edges. It sweeps down to bare pavement, so less de-icer is needed afterwards.

Bobcat L35 compact loader with broom attachment clearing snow

Bobcat L35 compact loader with plow or large broom

For internal roads, drive aisles and parking lots. At about 1.4 m wide, it fits where full-size plow trucks can’t.

Walk-behind salters and hand crews

Walk-behind salters give even, measured salt coverage, and hand crews take care of steps and tight corners.

Already your landscaper?

The crew that knows your site handles your winter service too, with bundled rates and free snow stakes to mark curbs, hydrants and garden edges.

Our promise is the same in winter as it is in summer: to do what we said we’d do, for the price we said we’d do it for.

From strata councils we work with

“We’ve had had a few different landscaping companies here over the past few years, but the problem has been reliability. The work was generally OK, but we’d never know if and when they were going to show up. But with Good Earth they have been very reliable and we know they will be here on our regular service day.”

Tim Hatfield

Council President, 314 unit strata property in downtown Vancouver

“The crew at Good Earth are courteous, proactive, and a pleasure to work with. When we ask for something to be done, it’s usually done on the same visit. We don’t have to chase them or remind them to get it done.”

Council President, 102 unit strata townhome property in Richmond

We provide snow and ice services to strata and commercial properties in Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver.

Frequently asked questions

Do you clear the city sidewalks in front of our property?

Yes. City sidewalks fronting your property are included and serviced on the same triggers as the rest of your site. This helps you meet your municipal snow and ice bylaw.

What triggers a visit?

Salting is triggered by forecast overnight lows at or below +1°C, freezing fog, refreezing melt, or a weather warning. Snow removal starts at 5 cm of snow on your site. We dispatch automatically, so you don’t have to call.

How am I billed?

Per visit, at the rates in your agreement, on one monthly invoice. Each invoice comes with a record of every visit and time-stamped photos. Site inspections where no salt is needed are no charge.

What if it doesn't snow?

You don’t pay for snow removal. You only pay for the visits you receive.

Are any areas excluded?

Roofs, rooftop and podium decks, private balconies and patios, building interiors and storage areas are excluded unless we agree otherwise. We confirm your exact Service Areas at a pre-season walkthrough.

What if the city plow pushes snow back onto the sidewalk?

We clear the city sidewalks fronting your property on the same triggers as the rest of your site. If a city plow pushes snow back onto the sidewalk, we clear it on our next visit, or sooner if you ask.

Does hiring you remove our strata's liability?

No. Hiring a snow contractor reduces your risk, but it doesn’t remove the strata’s responsibility. Our time-stamped visit records help show that the property was maintained.

What happens if equipment breaks down mid-storm?

We have more than one machine, plus walk-behind salters, shovels and hand crews. If a machine breaks down, the rest of the crew keeps the route going while we get it back in service.

What de-icer do you use?

An environmentally friendly de-icer on sidewalks, walkways and entrances. Roadways and parking lots may be treated with rock salt.

Can we start partway through the winter?

Yes. Contact us and we’ll walk your site, send an agreement, and start service as soon as it’s signed.
